How we got our start?
The first Pawleys Island rope hammock was handcrafted by South Carolina riverboat captain Joshua John Ward in 1889, remains the heart of our brand even now, more than a century down the line. We’ve seen countless knockoffs of the design through the years, yet there’s only ever been one Original.

[DURACORD ROPE]: Synthetic blend that is soft as cotton with durability of polyester. This rope is All-Weather and resistant to rot, mold and mildew. DuraCord is the densest rope on the market resulting in less stretch and increased support when relaxing.
[OAK SPREADER BAR]: Premium Oak hardwood that has been repeatedly hand-dipped in a honey gold marine-grade varnish for protection and longevity.
[DOUBLE-LATCH WEAVE]:Individual ropes are handwoven to pull against each other to produce a lattice-like design, eliminating the need for knots within the rope bed. This also allows us to use almost twice the amount of rope in each hammock than most of our competitors.
[ZINC PLATED HARDWARE]: We plate all our hardware, with zinc to protect against rust and ensure an overall longer outdoor life.
[HANDCRAFTED IN THE CAROLINAS]: Assembled using the finest parts and industry leading techniques.
